Question 37-1 with pictures.

Picked up a 37-1 last week for only $250. Haven't been able to find out much about it. Only had a handful of rounds shot thru it. They said it had to much recoil.

What can you tell be about it?

Serial number is BNY21XX--When was it born and how many of these did S&W make?

Thanks in advance for you help.

38 Special, 5 shot.

The 37-1 was released in 1988.

Probably weighs around 14 - 14.5 oz.

Here is my 37 no dash.

It's from 1971 -- kind of the opposite of yours because it has a lot of holster wear. I don't think it was shot much before I got it. Most likely someone's backup.

With standard pressure ammo, I don't find the recoil objectionable at all.

Square butt.

How about a picture?
