I like the Colt, of the three myself. I would like to fondle one myself prior to purchasing though.

I am glad the Kimber is hard to find or I would probably buy one. I am just getting into Revolvers and bought a 627PC last week but I wouldnt mind having another revolver. Ammo is in the mail so I will see how I like 357mag soon.

I wouldn't mind having a smaller revolver also that I could conceal and the Kimber looks nice. My next might be another S&W though

I should have a Kimber by the end of the week. The Colt is going to take longer...

Following up on my earlier post about the Kimber. I've put about 150 rounds downrange with it by now. It's growing on me more and more. This is a solid revolver. Shoots easy and to point of aim. It's a pleasure to shoot with .38. I still think that the price is too high. It seems that Kimber did this right. I'll say it...I am a fan. Would love to see a blued version but that will never happen.

Great Thread!
I am seriously thinking about the 60 3", but I loved my long-departed 19 4". I handled my Deputy Sheriff buddy's 19 snubby 2 1/2"? & I LOVED it! The new 66 2 3/4 "(?) seems to be a great alternative, but I have heard they will be offered in 2 1/2"

My Dan Wesson with its tensioned barrels was one of the most accurate handguns I have owned! That probably says good things about the new 66.

I'm new to the snubby world, and wondering just how much difference in velocity/expansion from a 2 1/2" or 2 3/4" barrel compared to a 3"? Enough to worry about, or is this just another thing that will generate discussion/arguments for years?

Speer claims expansion for their 135 gr. short barrel load(my EDC) from their 1.785" or 2" barrels, so It should be sufficient from a 2 1/2" or longer barrel, right?

I had my Cobra Agent for long time. The new one will never be like the older ones no matter what. Supposedly this Cobra Agent was special colt custom shop work revolver which I got for a great deal over 20 years ago.http://smith-wessonforum.com/attachm...1&d=1484406134

Is there an option for "All of the Above"? Each is slightly different in its own way. I'm far from an early adopter (um, I STILL shoot revolvers, OK?), so out of the three it would have to be the model 66. Although, the barrel length is new, the actual dash-8 design has been around since 2014. I figure the bugs if any have been worked out by now. Actually, my first purchase will probably be the model 69 in the 2.75" barrel because I've never owned anything remotely like it.

Next will probably be the Colt if the trigger turns out to be similar to the Python or even the Detective Special. The Kimber is last for a couple of reasons. First, it is the most expensive (though the S&W 66 is close). Secondly, for a belt gun, I prefer an exposed hammer. And the Kimber, at 23 oz, is a tad heavy for pocket carry in my experience; YMMV.

These guns plus some interesting offerings from Ruger leads me to believe we are entering a Revolver Renaissance. And that's a good thing.

The hard working, religious patriotic Americans whose numbers account for most of the quickly approaching silver tsunami would rush to the lgs with cash in their ra/oa hands in order to acquire a well made 9mm snub revolver to strap onto their rebuilt hips regardless of price.

Korth Night Hawk anyone?

Of the 3 listed I'll probably buy none. Kimbers QC & CS are dismal. Kimber's price points are ridiculous because the unsuspecting buyer is paying for their mass marketing. Open any gun rag and there is a 2 full page ad for Kimber. Those advertising costs are passed along to the consumer. The Colt I'll wait to pass judgement on after I get one in hand. Having listened to a Colt Rep in regards to this revolver he had positive comments about it but would not divulge anything about the internals of this gun. Colt's current manufacturing process for their 1911's is OK but it is not great. I believe we will see the same thing with this new revolver; it will work but if you think it will be anything like the older Colt Revolvers you may find yourself disappointed. The word "refined" will not be part of the description for this piece. For what it's worth I will be keeping my S&W 640 Pro. It may be the product of modern machining but it shoots and carries well.

Colt Cobra all the way for reasons stated above, plus mainly stainless steel vs. lighter weight material.I already contacted my 3 favorite FFLs to get on a list once they get some which likely will be...6 months?

I am glad to see Kimber and Colt building revolvers, but I have zero interest in another short barrel. If Kimber ever makes the K6 in 3" I would be very tempted.

I shot the new Cobra at the SHOT Show media day. It was ok, but didn't like the goofy stepped barrel - it could have been more gradual. It also didn't feel as refined as the earlier models, but that's pretty subjective. I like the K6, but it's not worth the cost - 1/4 to 1/3 more than the Colt.

Thanks for the post. Did you get any sense of whether old wood Colt D Frame grips would fit?

How was the trigger on the Colt? Does it stack up as it's pulled like Colts of old?

From what I heard the Colt has a smooth and light trigger, but maybe too light. I heard it had some light primer strikes during testing.
