Would S&W swap a barrel for me on my 629-6?
I'm partial to real snubbies and wondering if I could get the factory/customer service at S&W to install a 2 OR 2 1/2 inch barrel on my 629-6?
Opinions cheerfully accepted.

I'm pretty sure the days of being able to get a custom barrel length from S&W are history, but any competent gun smith should be able to hook you up. It will however not be as cheap as just replacing a barrel with another one already in that length. Due to the extraction rod, I'm pretty sure 2.5" is as short as you could go. This would involve cutting the barrel to that length, recrowning and installing a new front sight. Try Cylinder and Slide or Wilson's.

Looks like SDM is no longer accepting any new work right now. Bummer deal looks like a fine operation. I have an SDM front gold bead sight on my 325pd and love it!

I'll repeat, correct me if I'm wrong but S&W never produced a 629 shorter than 3".
In order to shorten a longer barrel you would have to deal with the locking bolt. It sits at 3".
3 inches is as short as you could go.

I stand corrected(even though it's more than 2.5" ).. then it could be done with a simple call to S&W and a credit card.
