Congratulations, Pete! Those are two fine revolvers. That round butt model 10 with 3" barrel caught my eye and is one that I have on my want list.

Both are great guns, and a good looking pair. Was the red tap from down under hard to do.

One of my favorite guns is an Aussie cop trade-in 66-7 snubbie. It was very clean. I understand the Aussie cops don't routinely carry them, but only take them out in case of "exigent" circumstances or some such. At any rate, it is always fun to read posts from our friends in Australia.

The Model 60 was the standard sidearm for us on Horse Patrol in Yosemite Natl. Park.
Maybe you would of thought we would of carried a huge single action Colt or something, but we dis-mounted and mounted a hundred times a day, and losing our sidearm was embarrassing, to say the least.
The rifle scabbard was always secure and ready.

Congrats sir from Missouri, USA on picking up 2 more fine handguns. What little info I've read on your nation's firearms laws led me to believe it was impossible for a civilian to own a handgun and very hard to own a repeating rifle or shotgun (by a non-farmer, non-police, non-military) so I was delighted to see that it is possible. What do nice examples such as these run there? In Missouri, my state, handguns are much cheaper in dealers shops than the same models would cost in California. So we are very thankful for that.

I picked up a M66-7 with the 4" 2 piece barrel, a couple of years ago which I think were ex-Aussie LEO trades. Replaced the Goodyears with factory target RBs & gave it a good cleaning. Times out perfectly. It's one bedside gun... It'll do.

Pete-glad you got your Smiths. But isn't it a crying shame the hoops you had to jump through to get them. Hope that doesn't happen over here. But with the overall decline in common sense and I Q these days I am afraid our days of real freedom and liberty may be numbered.

I makes me really appreciate being able to walk into a shop, fill out a little paper work, and walk out with my new or used gun in minuets. Or even better meeting someone at a parking lot, and buying a gun with zero paper work.
Great set of revolvers you have there, the older 60's have always been my favorite Smith. Never was into the 3" barrels much till recently, now I'm obsessed with them
Had a 3" 63 years ago...wish I still had it.

I was told this was an ex Victoria Coppers gun, however i don't think so as it looks new, unless it was factory reconditioned like a ex Queensland Police model 36 i have?

I paid $375 for model 10 ( and 375 for a nice Glock 19) & $495 for the model 60 which is a lot less in US dollars!

Is your Queensland gun a Model 36-1, with three-inch barrel? I read they used those. And some Rugers.
Do WA police normally work armed? All I know is on Blue Heelers, and that was set in Victoria. They wore their Model 10's on duty, but locked them in a safe when they went home after the shift. But a visiting detective had his Model 36 snub on him after duty hours. I guess TV was following Victoria police practices. They probably had a cop advisor.
If your gun was Victoria-owned, it may have been one never issued, just stored in the arms room. That would account for the nice condition. I don't know if all were marked by that force. I've seen pics of NSW guns that did have the state crest. They had three-inch barrels, but were square-butted.

It's a 36-1 sb with 2in barrel. WA Cops are always armed on duty (40cal Glock) but not whilst off duty!

I got that one when Qld Cops moved away from revolvers. It was sent back to S&W for refinish before being sold ($300)
