Hello, I don't want to steal this thread, but I have a question. I have the same gun but it doesn't say backpacker anybody know the difference, my number is BRL 087x, it's a629-4

I have a 629-5 Mountain Gun, and I have to tell you that is one fine looking gun. They don't make then like that anymore.

My fourth edition show BSA and BSC in 1994. It does not show a BSB. It appears the end of 1994 or early 95. But what do I know, I'm strictly and amateur.

That's a very nice 3"er. Since you have the original box, look at the special order number. It's a Julian date. The first number should be 4 or 5 representing the year and the last 3 numbers would be that number in days of the year.
