My new "wonderful" 686-4
Hi guys!! I have bought my first inox revolver, a SW 686-4 with 6 inch barrel, 357 mg, year 1997 (???) (serial number CCD 56xx).
It is used but in good conditions (I hope......). Paid 550 euros (I'm from Italy).
Here some photos.......

Beautiful revolver and well bought for 550 Euros. The 686-4 is a great, accurate and exceedingly durable gun. Enjoy!

That beauty looks as clean as a whistle.
The 686 is a great, great revolver. Maybe S&W's greatest offering ever, when all things are considered.

What's not to like about a 686? It should perform quite well for you! I have a 686-3, from 1989. Also a 4" 586 no dash from 1983. Enjoy your 686! Bob

I have a question..... the serial number of my revolver (686-4) is CCD 56xx, therefore is it a "model year 97"??

I would agree it is a 1997 shipped 686. All the 686's are great guns and wonderfully accurate.
I bought this one in 1984. An AAF prefix, shipped in 1982.
The grips are Hogue's.

I've had my 686 6" for 21 years. I shoot .38 wadcutters through it at my gun club 25 yd range. It is very accurate. I love the square butt wood of these older ones (I'm not a fan of black rubber).
