Default PC 327 TRR8 Very Accurate

Saw nothing today while hunting, but I had some impressive impromptu accuracy results pictured from my TRR8 shooting Federal Premium Barnes .357 Magnum 140 Grain (1,400 FPS; 610 ft. lbs.). Optic has no magnification.

At 75 meters (82 yards) I had ca. 3.2" and 3.5" two shot groups (3rd Picture). To take the shots I rested the gun's trigger guard on the deer stand's ledge; probably could get a little tighter groupings with a shooter's sandbag designed for a hand gun rather than balancing the trigger guard on carpeted ply wood.

If you don't mind the size, the TRR8 is really a premiere woods gun for the .357 Magnum. Even with the optic, the gun's combined weight is just 40.1 ounces (627 Snub = 37.8 oz.; No optic TRR8 = 35.2 oz.). Thunder Magnum loads are easily handled, the shrouded barrel gives additional accuracy. The gun is superbly balanced and fast, although in my case that is a little compromised by the optic. A great shooter in SA or DA, the TRR8 just keeps impressing me doing everything well.

Looks like you have all the ingredients for a successful hunt, now all you have to do is wait for the deer, and you can do that in comfort.
I took my first handgun deer almost 40 years ago with a 6" model 28 with a load similar to what you are packing in your revolver.
Love your blind, you could live in that. Good luck, good hunting, enjoy your Smith and your time in the woods.

Sir, I'm pretty sure that you and I spoke about the Trr8 set up! I can say that that wheelgun is awesome!! Glad the holster worked out, I purchased one as well. Did you leave the belt offset on or remove it? I wonder if smith plans on offering some other variations. My grail would be a 3.5 version with a detachable v-comp making it 4" length, unfuted cylinder, big dot front sight, hogue extended cylinder release and g-10 crimson trace grips and cylinder and slide rear combat sight. Not that I thought about it much lol

Groo here
When you shoot like that , don't let the gun touch the rest.
Cup the shooting hand in the offhand and rest the off hand against or on top the board.
Make sure the gun does not hit the rest or the off hand
get pinched under the butt.
My Dad [RIP] "Got him a deer in his 80th year" with my TRR8.
Using Leverevolution ammo and a Zeiss red dot.
1 shot 50 yds ...done!

Yes the TRR8 is indeed awesome. The best all around weapon I have ever owned. If it were concealable it would be the only revolver I own, but have a 627 snub for carry. I also have an M&P R8, identical weapon to the TRR8 but with a permanent rather than removable lower rail. I use a Simply Rugged holster for the M&P I special ordered to accommodate the lower rail.

Not sure what the belt offset is. There were two accessories that came with the holster, and I configured it as close to my hip as possible.

Groo, not disagreeing, just want clarification. There is a problem with resting the trigger-guard on the blind's shelf (board) for stability? I felt with 3" and 3.25" groups at 80 yards I had ideal results unless that TRR8's shrouded barrel is capable of more? I thought the only better platform would be a dedicate revolver rest? Thanks!!
