19-5 rerun

To make a long story short, I bought a 19-5 snub nose in 1990 from the lgs. Made in 86. It was in excellent shape but the grip had been replaced with a Houge rubber grip. While at the range once my wife dropped it and it left a small scratch on the bottom of the frame where the crane rotates and a backwards " C " shape scratch on the cylinder. We split up in 1993 and I needed money to get into an apartment so I sold it to the local pawn shop. Fast forward to last month I'm in the same pawn shop new location and in the display case sits a 19 snub. When I look at it sure enough there's the scratch on the cylinder and frame. I purchased it and when I get home I check my bound book and the numbers match ! That's 25 years later ! Wow what are the odds ?

Wonder if it stayed there or if it changed hands multiple times? What stories could it tell...

That's a serious gap. I had a much smaller gap happen at one my LGS, when they had this really cool Mossberg Model 42 Military Training rifle for sale. I chickened out on buying it three different times. On the fourth visit I was ready money in hand and the rifle was gone. I was pretty bummed out, talk to the guys they all teased me as they knew how many times I choked on prior visits. Four months later the very same rifle was for sale in the shop when I walked in the door! The salesman saw my face light up like a Christmas tree when I came in. I said is that it, he said yup. I said here's my money! You just never know how things will work out or circle back around. 25 years is a crazy circumstance!

The man that owned the place died several years ago now his son has it. I did as if maybe they had kept it as a store gun and he said no so the gun probably stayed local all that time but who knows how many hands it went through. Still though, besides a little wearing at the muzzle it's in pretty good shape.

Dropping a model 19 is grounds to split up. Makes one wonder if she is coming back? Just kidding of course. Interesting story
