Default M63 Hammer won't stay cocked

Just went to pick up my new M63 and when handed to me I tried to pull back hammer to place in single action and the hammer would not stay back. Refused the item and requested another be sent from distributor. Has anyone encountered this problem? Little unnerving. Have a few SW revolvers and never experienced any problems. Thanks.

I bought a new 60 series that did the same thing. I showed the dealer and he showed the in-store gun smith. The hammer wasn't able to come all the way back because of the rubber grip. The gun smith trimmed the grip and it cured the problem. No problems since.

I bought my 63 8 shot last year. It has been perfect in every way. I'm pretty sure that the one that you were sent was an isolated case that slipped past QC, and the next one will be fine. BTW they are great shooting Revolvers. I shoot mine all the time.

Default Update

My gunshop called to say new M63 arrived.
An hour later they called again and said to hold up coming in due to damage to the front site that they noticed during inspection.
QC problems at S&W?? Will try one more time. Past experience with this maker is the only reason I am going for a third try.
