Default 65-5 cylinder latch switched at birth?

Howdy,
Didn't see this in my search. Pretty much every Model 65, including the dash 5 like mine, seems to have the old, classic fairly flat and symmetrical cylinder release or latch or whatever. Mine has one that is almost an elongated oval, like the newer guns of today. Is mine the only one with this this odd-shaped thumb button? Is it difficult to replace or hard to find the "correct" one? I didn't dig it out of the safe for pics as I'm pretty sure you all know what I'm describing. I can, if needed. It just seems out of place on that gun. Thanks!

Numrich has the old style thumbpiece if you prefer that style. Installation would entail removal of the thumbpiece nut and swapping the parts. I'm sure you could also find one on Ebay, as many of the older parts are available there.

Thank you! Had not even thought of them even though I know they exist. Thanks for rattling my brain!
