Default Twins!

I recently re-acquired a couple of guns that have been in storage at my family's home for nearly 20 years. One of them is a 642 no-dash. I did a quick range session this morning after giving it a thorough cleaning, inspection, and lube. Before being locked away it was given a trigger job, which is noticeable when compared with my stock trigger 642-1. Hopefully I'll get to doing a little more thorough SD reliability check in the next week or two. I may change the springs out to factory spec. I'll likely keep it as a back-up to my EDC 642-1.

Anyways, here's a picture of my twins. The 642 no-dash on the left, with ebony Eagle Secret Service grips (which don't work with Safariland Comp I speedloaders... ) and my EDC 642-1 on the right, with cocobolo Spegel boot grips.

Nice twins...

Below are my twins and both are 642-1s. The left one has the stock S&W "stocks" and the one on the right came with the factory Crimson Trace grips complete with S&W logos.

Unfortunately, the one on the left broke the trigger pivot pin and S&W replaced it under warranty. I had them turn it into a 640 when it was replaced.

However, at the time of this picture my twins were happily living together.

Edmo

Illegitimate twins. 649 and 640. New big dot sight on order for the police trade in 640, and some G10 grips for the 649.

We can call them fraternal twins.

Well..... I just happen to have this picture handy, another set of "Fraternal Twins", ...after posting it on another thread yesterday... My new to me 640-1 from the Centerfire Systems batch, wearing Eagle rosewood "Secret Service" stocks, and the 640-1 Pro Series that I found at a local "Feed Store" last year:

I am particularly pleased that they are stamped on the frame with the older 4 line address, rather than being etched with a two line like current production. Plus they have old fashioned one piece barrels. No Internal Locks. They both have MIM parts, but I can live with that.

Best Regards, Les

As Guy Fieri says, "Two brothers from a different mother."
