Model 10 with case color frame..wow
Saw this on GB.Never knew such a revolver was made. Very nice. Only 80 made (so the ad says) and this one is #80. Pretty snazzy. Were there any other special runs of case color revolvers made?

Yes, its a M10-9, product code 178006. They were made for Lew Horton in 2001. That gun has been for sale on GB for a long, long, time.

The buy in is very steep. I can understand why it's been unsold for so long. However,I do like the style and wonder why the factory would not offer it on a more routine basis at an affordable price.

They made some J and N frames also. I saw them listed on a distributor web site several years ago. Saw a used case colored J frame at the December gun show in Phoenix. There are some other ones out there...

J frames! Hmm..I'd love a model 49 with a case colored frame, but probably not the J frame they chose to treat. I'll have to keep my eyes open a little wider for these case colored models.

They were also made in the "Classic Series" with the IL. Mine is the Model 22 of 1917.

Yes, the original Heritage models were made for distribution by Lew Horton back ~2000, here are all the case hardened versions (not case colored, the finish was done by Doug Turnbull).
These were all the original models, pre-lock and all forged parts, assembled by the Performance Center.

I have the 15-8 with 4, barrel. The previous owner did something that greyed the case hardening, but it is a joy to shoot.

Give me a "BLUED BEAUTY" any day! I would take a cased hardened example at a good (cheap) price though. Bob

I remember when S&W re-introduced the Mod 40 as the 40-1 some years ago, it was offered in Blue, Nickle and Case Color.

That is a beauty for sure. I once had one of the classics 21-4 44 special but sold it because it was TOO pretty to shoot and handle.
I shoot all mine but congrats on your beauty.

Not too pretty to shoot, but they do need bigger handles
As bananarama posted, they were a love hate item when new in 2001 (?). I paid full boat for the model 24, and then when the line in general didn't do well, I bought two model of the 15's for $350.00 and the 1917 for...I forget. But not a lot.
