Default Another 66-2 price check

Before the holidays I purchased several firearms from my father in law. One was a 66-2 6" in excellent condition but no box or papers. He picked it up some time ago at a gun show. It has been shot but I'm guessing very little. It has a faint turn line and powder marks on the front of the cylinder. I think the serial number starts with AUPxxxx. It wasn't stamped real well. So what I have is a triangle two vertical lines the a P and four numbers. I haven't had time to shoot it yet. Are these older 66's really worth $800? That's what I'm seeing on the gun sites. Sorry I can't post pics but any input is greatly appreciated.

IMHO a ANIB, w/ box, Doc and tools..... 2 1/2 inch 66 can bring $800.

The 6 inch you describe.......... $500-600.........leaning toward the low end. Note the -2 lose the P&R'ed features many collectors want.

SCS&W 4th Ed just published........ 66 in "excellent" condition....$575.... but keep in mind shorter barrels tend to go for more than longer barreled guns.

I agree with what your saying. I thought $800 was high.

Look on the bottom of the grip frame. The s/n is clearly inscribed there. You might have to remove the grips to see it, depending on their style.
