Early 640 No Dash
Saw this local to the area today - a nice example of an early no dash 640 with wood grips and very little frame wear. Serial number is BKK9XXX - I'm thinking that would put it around 1992?
Is that a good date estimate? thanks!

I had the exact same thought when I saw the mint, matte stainless 640 on the dealer's 'junk table.' Why it was there, I'll never know! Wasn't there much longer!

It is a good looking S&W revolver . The smooth stocks are what drew my attention to it though. It was sitting in the middle of all new J frame Smiths! The good ones always seem to stand out!!

It was probably on that "junk" table because it was one of those "old" ones that wouldn't take the 357. Who would want one of those old things anyway, they only shoot 38's.
That's just why I bought mine. When they stretched the frame to put a 357 cylinder in it they destroyed the classic look.
