N frame coke bottles
Well I have finally received my new model 29 stocks from Altamont and WOW. Their new coke bottle grips are amazing and work wonderfully with speed loaders as well.

Yes, we really like pictures on this forum.
While we're waiting, here are my new Altamont Conversion Targets on an L-frame 686-6, taken while I was at the range doing speed-loader drills.

Im not seeing any info on these on interweb. Did you get them directly from Altamont?

So, I am sure that their website is a bit slow in getting updated with these. I actually talked with them on the phone prior to shot show and ordered these, but it took a couple weeks to get them. I am pretty certain these are one of the firsts sets to go out.

I think they have an aesthetic profile. I'm still less than thrilled about the width at the back strap. Looks like it goes out an 1/8" or so from the frame then takes a quick angle instead of a round contour.
If they are $50ish I'd give them a try for sure.

SLT223, I am pretty certain these are the first set out in the public and there is probably a bit of refinement that will go into future sets. But in all honesty they feel so great and are a complete 180* turn from the poor factory grips. I say poor in the fact they are far too narrow for a 44 magnum handgun.

I appreciate your opinion and taking the time to post the pics! I'd like to get a set to see what they are like in my hand. Probably going to ring them in the AM.

thin
compared to the 1970s 80s target stocks they look really thin...not sure about that? Were the old 1960s cokes that thin?

Nice reproduction grips they don't look bad. The diamond makes it look like the original grips but are a set to use when shooting to save the original ones. Are they made for the K frames also? What are they selling for? Larry

I just received a pair from Altamont, and mine look exactly like those in the previous photos. I wish the wood was a little darker. But they are well made!
I put them on my 327 trr8 and shot it yesterday. Overall, they feel a little small for my medium-large hands. They were $88.10 delivered. Not sure if I will keep them - they may show up in the classifieds at some point in the future!

Can you post a pix of them on your 327 TRR8? I am thinking of putting a pair on my 325 TR and would like to see how they look. Thank you!

I got these grips also, and the first thing that I noticed was the color. On the Altamont website, they're showing not only darker, but more of a reddish shade. Typically there's not really any red in walnut. But I'd expected them at least a bit darker.
After emailing the company, they said they were treated with only boiled linseed oil. I'm thinking of trying to not only darken these up a bit, but also give a bit more of a shine. The way they came, they look dry. I'm not really looking for a wet look, just a bit more than how they came. Anybody know about what I could do to achieve this without spoiling them?

I bought a couple sets, one for an N frame and one for a K/L frame. The finish is nicer on the N frame. The ones I received look a lot like the ones on the website.

get them also yesterday..
I don;t mind them that much but as suspected they feel a tad thin. I do not have a coke set and do not know how thin they were in the 60s but my 1970s targets are a LOT thicker and fit me better. I agree, kind of light and dry looking. I gave them a dose of old craftsman lemon oil, waited a while, wiped them and then a layer of Ren Wax and polish. Looking good now, rich and a bit glossier. Will post pic later.

Just ordered - give them a try
Just ordered mine. There is a seller on eBay, who will send me photos of each grip in stock once I select a particular grip, and let me pick the set I want. Went with these. Will arrive couple days. Found this thread by accident. Good info here on these. Hope I like them.
