Default Performance Center 657 170125

Anybody know when and how many of these were manufactured?

Product Code 170125 Model 657 .41 Magnum, 6 1/2" full lug barrel with detachable compensator and cap, fluted cylinder.

I've finally got one of these on it's way to me. I think it's kind of ugly with the comp. but hey, a guys gotta have one, right?

Could I impose and ask where did you get the marvelous wood grip variations for smiths?

Some are Ahrends purchased off ebay.
A few from John Culina aka Kurac here on the forum.
A couple Hogue and Altamont.

I did find mention of 1999 as year of production on page 268 of the 3rd edition SCSW and that it was a Lew Horton Distributing special edition.

I just bought one of these today. I'm a big .41 fan and was just casually looking when I was meeting with a guy about another firearm.

This weapon was just sitting in the case looking all lonely and the price was right so it now belongs to me.

It looks like it must be a rare bird.

Since I live in Illinois, it will be a few days before it gets here.

Anyone else see one recently?

If it's from the batch that has a HRC s/n, sources say 210 were made.

It was a Lew Horton gun. You can contact them for a free provenance letter. Post a pic of the letter here.

If you need help figuring out how to post pic, let me know.

Congrats on your find, it is hard to ignore a lonely looking 657.
There were a couple on Gunbroker the last month or two but they do not show up very often.

My letter from Earl Minot at Lew Horton states that there were 202 units produced in 1998; 115 units with HRC prefix and 87 units with HCH prefix.

Other versions of 657s that were produced can be seen here 657-41 Magnum-Lew Horton-RSR-Davidson's-Dealer Specials and Regular Production

My 657PC 170125 HRC0110 is Spec Order 8309

Picked mine up off GB used a few years back

My pkg is pretty much complete.. Missing the

False muzzle tho...Previous owner secured the slotted brake

on with LockTite... Been wondering if those false brakes

are still available...

My build date of 8309 puts the gun being made the last

few days of 0ct 1998.. Anyone know if it would have a

Cut-Rifled barrel or the newer Etch-a-Sketch ones??

Rest of the story on HRC0110

lt was really late when l saw the gun on GB... 2:30AM IIR..

Bad pictures with a very reasonable ''buy it now'' price.

l hit the button and emailed the seller my cell number..

My wish is to talk before sending money on any gun sale...

No mention of a box or papers in listing.. So, l asked..

''YES'', he said. Do you want them?? Sure, Please Pretty Please.

Story on the gun is- He had purchased it app 10yrs prior. Put

it up, and was selling it now because he wanted a Glock 9mm.

Also had some 41 mag ammo for it...Bought that too..Great

gun.. Love shooting it
