Default Picked up a Model 686-4 2.5" 7 Shot

Wanted to share a nice Penna find. I had a guy from another site I belong to reach out and offer me this SW. He was on the fence about selling it, I didn't give him much time to think about it, he called last night and I told him I would be there first thing this morning, 6 hour round trip and I brought this beauty home. Pre-Lock, Pre-Mim 686-4 in 2.5" and 7 SHOT !! with original box. This revolver is mint, I don't use that word too often, but she is right there. I'm pretty fired up over this one. I paided for it, but not too bad, this one is right up there with my 27-2 in 3.5" complete with presentation box.

My first 686+ (that's what the 7 shot models are called) was a 2.5". It is a FABULOUS gun - enjoy it!

OK now I am officially jealous. I love snubbies, I love 686s, and I love the 7 shots.

Congrats, local!

6 hour round trip, that sounds like my trip to Wilkes-Barre for my 629-2E. It sat on Armslist for $900 calling my name, so I made the trip.

Where was this located? The long drive it takes to travel across PA severely limits whether a gun is worth the trip or not for me. Most prices haven't even been close to making a long trip worth while lately.

Wow - very nice! The lock wouldn't bother me - but yours also does not have the ridiculous huge billboard text on the barrel. I hope you didn't pay too much for it ...

Hey Ipac

I'm around the Doylestown area, he was in Chambersburg, I agree on the trip/time to justify a gun buy. I would of did that drive for the 629-2E. I love the 44 cal guns, I just picked up a 629-1 RB in 3" .. and a 696 No dash in 3" .. can't get enough of them 44's.

As for my drive for this 686-4, I rec'd the pics for it and she looked great, most of the times the pic's are hard to judge, without the proper lighting and such. With the pics being nice, and me doing some research I knew I had to grab this. The 7 shot is nice, kinda rare. And with the original box I thought it was a no brainer to grab this. A couple of weeks ago I drove out to Elizabethtown to grab a 4" SQ Model 547, just don't see them around at all.

You are right about time/distance for a purchase, but with this 686 I had to make the trip, I honestly think if I waited say till Saturday he would of changed his mind. The fella was a great guy and he was being honest, when we were talking after the sale, he said I almost called you about not selling it, as I can understand where he was coming from, we all have sold a gun at sometime in our collecting we wished we had back.

Not too bad, You know with SW's, the prices are all over the place. I felt good about what I paided. She's a keeper, this one not going anywhere, it'll go in the safe next to the 686-3 in 2.5 "

Love the gun. But driving 3 hours hurts. I don't like driving.

Very nice. I have one and it's my favorite EDC. Surprisingly accurate for a 2.5 inch barrel.

Nice gun! My edc is a 2.5" 686+ dash 6. However, I much prefer the older ones like yours. Very nice!

I see where Doylestown is, pretty close to Philly. So if you traveled to Chamberburg, you were within bout hour from me in FloodCity. I have traveled the old Lincoln Highway out past Chambersburg and into Getttysburgh for a gun, I believe my BSTS KC. Most of my buys were local Armslist ads and I had to travel, so I have a hard time remembering which gun to which location. Although that is the way to find REAL deals, buy local. Getting harder though nowadays due to folks wanting a huge payoff like they see on auction sites.

My 629-2E was a 3" RB too. The unfluted cylinder, and bad-azz nature of the 44mag snubby with magna-ports, just really attracted me. Hindsight, I would have probably preferred your -1 instead due to weight reducing features. Although I got the full endurance package with mine, so that helps. Something just told me that gun was special and uncommon, so I went for it, my 1st S&W. Glad I did, because it replaced all my Anacondas.

I will shot it, i always take a few guns to the range. I don't beat any on them up. But will shot it, gingerly :-)
