M29 Classic
I've been eyeing up a M29 Classic 44mag 6 1/2" model. There are very few in stock around( most at elevated prices). Has there been a run on these lately? I know its a VERY popular model, but why so hard to find in stock? ( Again most at near msrp) Thanks Ron

I would like to find 1 myself. Would be more likely to buy a used 1 though. Do have a 25-15 6.5 in 45Colt. They are nice! Bob

S&W must be focusing their blue N-frame production other models right now. The M29 Classic will be back in the schedule, sometime. It's a popular bread-and-butter model, and a guaranteed money maker. They're not going to walk away from it. It's just a matter of timing.

Hey bananaman, I was looking at a model 25 45colt. I got distracted looking around and started seeing that the M29 was more elusive than the M25. Both are in my future, just figured the M25 was everywhere, but not so much with the M29. I think the 25's price will remain flat while the 29's will continue to bring more as time goes on. My best price find on a NIB 25 was $805. In stock almost everywhere I looked and within $30 or so. Did your M25 come with a presentation box, or is it just the 29's? Thanks, Ron

Bought it used/ as new in box at gun show. $750 O.T.D. Had papers and box, but no wood box. I just like shooting it! Around here you never see them come up for sale. Took off the factory Altamont stocks. Put on real 80's S&W. Looks feels & shoots better for me now. Good luck on your hunt! Bob

I feel ya.
Been looking for a 29-10 to add to my collection. They are at crazy prices when you find any model now, even the new 29-10. After weeks of searching I was finally able to find a used one that looks to have only been used two or three times and then left in the box to sit at a Cabela's in Ohio no less.
In the process on getting it shipped now but my local FFL took a couple days to get a copy of his FFL license to the dealer. Wish I didn't have to deal with this snail's pace of getting it into my hands, but what can you do when no shop anywhere has any or keeps them in stock and can't order them, and even a call to S&W says they have none to send out and have none on the schedule for the immediate future? They only say "Eventually" more will be released, but probably not a very large number. They can't say when exactly. You find a Model 29, you have to be quick as lightning and snap it up!

I have one of the 4" 29 Classic, and it's an amazing good shooting. I did change the serrated trigger to a smooth wide target, and put the old school S&W wood on it. One thing I wish they would do is give it the interchangeable front sight like the Classic full lug guns.

Here is mine 29-5
This is a 29-5 made in 1992. No lock. Love it! The blue is stunning. Does not have to hide behind any Python.

I wrote S&W and asked if the classic models came with a presentation box. I've read on a few places that listed them, that includes the box. S&W replied, they come in a blue box. You can purchase the presentation box from us. ????????? Im confused. The 629 has been coming with the box. Im lost on this one. Ron
