Default New Revolver Front Sights for Aging Eyes

I had XS Standard size front sights put on my two carry revolvers. A model 60 .357mag and my 642. That white ring around the glowing green dot really stands out. I preferred the standard size as opposed to the big dot, and the gunsmith indicated the standard would fit better with the fixed rear "trench". The M60 front sight was pinned and the M642 required some milling but I'm very pleased with the results. I don't want to start a debate on whether these types of sights are really needed. The fact is, I'm 55 going on 56 and my eyes don't see like they used to. These really help me out and are faster for target acquisition than the factory front sights.

That looks like a very worthwhile upgrade to this 58 year old!

I am not far behind you and had one of the XS small dots put on a 360J that I had converted to 9mm. Just spent some time shooting it last week and like the sight once I got used to how to line it up with the notch.

Picked up one of the 640 trade ins at Centerfire and just got in a Fiber Optic sight for it that will be going on shortly.

It makes it easier to pick up that is for sure.

Nice.
I took the lazy way and got the M&P340.
Maybe I can follow you and do that to my 640 no dash.

I put XS standard dots on my SP101 and LCR357. They work well. On my J-Frames I paint the sights. Works good if you have a little light.

Well I have a 640-1 and a 649 that I put the big dot XS sights on. At 53 I can pick them up very easily. I also like the glow at night so I know where my revolver is when I am camping, right next to my flashlight....I really like fiber optic sights also, but wanted that glow at night while camping.

Now I am just waiting for that M&P 340 to ship so I will have 3 J frames with night sights.

I have a Dawson Precision F/O front sight on my GP100, absolutely love it. High visability and high contrast shooting at black bull targets. I prefer the red over the green.

Now take a black sharpie and color the sharp edges on the back of the rear sight trench. Got that tip from someone here and it really helped me.

I bought +1.25 safety glasses from Amazon for about $15.. This works for me, even though my regular reading glasses are +2.0.
