Default A model 24-3

A fellow offered me a M-24-3 yesterday while talking to him on the phone. Didn't look at it yet so don't know serial. No box or papers buta 44 special of course. with a 4 inch barrel. He said about 95% condition. When might a 24-3 have been made? How about approx value in 90-95%..Just hedging the condition a bit even though the fellow is pretty honest on evaluations

The 24-3s were made in 1983/84 I believe. Value where I shop without box/papers is probably around $800 at 95%. Last one I saw for sale locally was a six inch in 98% condition but with no box/etc. three years ago for which I paid $600. Good luck.

If it's mechanically sound I'd say buy that .44spl revolver. They're a lot of fun at the range but you'll need to reload 44spl ammo since factory is expensive and not in every LGS.

Price is hard to estimate without having it in hand and reading the seller's need to sell body language.

I'd offer $800 if 95% or better with everything working as it should.

I offered him 600 for it and told him if he could find the box I would go to 650 if in 95%. I did buy a 624 10 days ago for 600. But for resale cause I am not a stainless steel lover. The fellow gave me to boxes of factory ammo with it. But this one would be a keeper for me. I think a 4 inch one would be a fun gun. Thanks for the reply.

In the 1983-1984 time frame, 2,625 were made with 4" barrels, and 4,875 with 6.5" barrels. I wrote an article on the Model 24 guns that appeared in the February 2017 issue of Dillon's Blue Press catalog/magazine. A call to Dillon at 1-800-223-4570 will probably get you this back issue.

Well if I have to I will go up a bit. I like the 44 Sp. I even have an old Triple Lock in the caliber...but it isn't a 95% gun..Also have a Ruger 44 Flat top(4 5/8 inch) of recent vintage and a new in box Charter Arms Target Bull Dog...serial 500 and a SAA 44 Sp..also 4 5/8...and enough parts that with a frame I could build a new one...Charter Arms too. I gotta get rid of all the parts I have here..

In about that same time they brought out the 3" 24-3, RB. The RB stocks just never fit my hand so I redid a pair of rosewood RB to SB stocks and they work well for me.

I kept the original stocks in the box for someday when it might be sold.

I think you guys are a little light on the price for 4" barrels. I've almost never seen one for sale and the ones I have seen were quite a bit higher priced up to nearly $1K, $1250 for a 4 " 24-3 with display box.
Of course, "asking" price is not "selling" price . . .

Love my 4" 24-3 and hope to add the other two barrel lengths to my collection. I killed two deer with my 4" this past Thanksgiving. I think I paid $900 for mine about 4 years ago with box, docs and all.

Model 24 makes meat
