When I was lubing it, it seemed odd not having flutes, but I kinda like the look.

I was hoping for that....
...my eyes lit up when I saw it was a 686 short barrel.

Excellent!
I have held one. Fantastic feeling revolver. A 3" medium frame wheel gun is the one thing I'm missing in my collection. I'm trying to hold off buying until I can handle one of the new 2 3/4" 66-8s. The TALO version here, the regular 686P, and a WC GP100 are also in contention.

Beautiful! I really like the idea of a 3", (being the best of both worlds) for conceal carry, still having great accuracy, and looks very balanced. I really like the grips as well.
I looked at that particular model with great interest only to see it is not on the Ca. doj list of approved firearms.
I have a 627-5 4" in jail & can't wait! Cheers!

Sorry to hear that this shorty is not on the list for you, but cannot see why not? Makes me glad to live in the most Republican dominated state!

Kingspoke, I see there is a 686-6 PC with a 2.5 inch barrel on the list. Close but a bit pricier.
