Default Model 60 help Identify Year please

Gun store has a model 60 38 special that appears unfired. Hang tag says it's a model 60-3 but inside the yoke it's only stamped with 13. Serial # BFC6624

Prefix BFC is likely from August, 1989, which fits with a 60-3. The model 'should' be stamped on the yoke cutout, on the frame under where the barrel threads in, but having the SN is the most important stamping to have intact. It could have simply missed being model stamped.

Thanks! Yeah, that's where the 13 is located, on the yoke cutout under the barrel. The shop that has it claims it's unfired and it looks that way to me as well. There's no ring on the recoil shield. They were asking $450 but it has no box and I offered $400 and they said they'd take that. Is it worth it? I didn't put anything down on it. It was just minutes before they were closing so I didn't think it would go anywhere before tomorrow.

$400 is a very good price in the current market. Missing and mis-stamped guns like this are well-documented; most would not pay extra for one but it certainly doesn't detract from the value, especially in the condition you describe.

Photos, please, after you buy it .

Great buy - unfired!! I would be there when they open in the morning. And would likely bring a dozen donuts in celebration!!

Went and got it. It's not mis-stamped. My old eyes missed it. The Model 60-3 stamp is there. It has a Hogue Bantam boot grip on it and the original grips in excellent condition.
