Default New to me 64-5

I picked up a Virginia Department of Corrections trade in 64-5 yesterday for $317 out the door. The dealer is a local police supply in Richmond and they had several in stock, from -5 to -10, I looked at all of them, mine is the only one that did not have any pencil engraving, had a solid lock-up, super smooth trigger and, underneath the goodyears, a nice round butt frame with serrated front and backstraps. It points naturally. Finish is good, normal wear and tear. Nothing a little Flitz and Ren Wax won't take care of. This will be a nice stablemate to my recently acquired 3 inch 65-3.

Pics to follow, once I get off my dead butt and take some. Plan on starting the re-finishing today.

I picked up a couple (64-3 and 64-5) from there as well a while back and was really pleased. Both of mine have the square butt.

One has some etching on the back strap and the other is clean.

Had to mail order mine and the person I spoke to at the shop did a nice job of picking me out a couple of good ones when I asked him to.

Love the Model 64 and have more than I should have but hey did I mention I love the Model 64.

OK, Here they are. Did a preliminary polishing on them both today. Lot's of potential here.

Nice! I have a 64-2 with a 2" barrel that I carry sometimes. Very accurate shooters.

They are really good folks. Have been doing business with them for almost 20 years. Only a few minutes from my house, and even though I'm not, nor have ever been a LEO, they still give me their law enforcement discount on ammo.

Congratulations. You got yourself a nice one and you were fortunate to have a choice among several.

IMHO, I think the Model 64 is one of the truly great revolvers. Of course it is basically the same gun as a Md. 10 but I prefer stainless. K frames are just plain cool, especially those with short barrels!

I got one from them a few months ago but I ordered it over the phone. Sounds exactly like yours. I spent an hour with some Mothers Mag and a rag and jt gleams like nickle now. I
Actually asked for the rubber Uncle Mikes. They feel great in my hand. I was surprised at the round butt. Just expected square. Shoots like a laser.

Congratulations! Nice pair you have. $317 is a great price in my book! Enjoy them both! Bob

Nice score ! Several years ago I got one of the trade-in 64's from J&G Sales.
After shipping and transfer, it was still just under $300. But during some toy juggling, I later sold it to a freind for $300. Last year I thought about contacting him to see if he felt like letting go of it (knowing he was usually tight on money), but never got around to it. I ran into him a few months ago and asked him about it, and he said he just traded it to a relative.......for a friggin' riding lawnmower !!!
I should've called him back when I first though about it!!
