Default Model 629 stainless 6" barrel value

Hello everyone. This is my first post here on the s&w forum. I recently purchased a stainless 629 6" from my brother in law who had the revolver for about 5 years. He probably only put a few cylinders worth of ammo through it, didnt like shooting a 44 mag, and sold it to me recently. Ive only put maybe an additional 100 rounds through the gun. All in all the revolver probably has south of 150 rounds through it. Visually and functionally the gun looks and feels brand new. I always have loved 44 magnums and this one is no exception. I want to get an optic ready 44 mag for hunting so this one has to go. What is a fair price that will sell well?

Depending on the exact rev level 629 you have many of the 629's are already drilled and taped for optic mounting. Look at the specific model stamping on the frame under the crane and share that info here for better answers.

If you gently open the cylinder (unloaded) and look at the bottom of the top strap, You should see threaded holes if it is tapped for a scope. Assuming your description is accurate, we still need to know if there is a dash number after the 629. Also, is there an original box and contents. Pictures always help. Based on the information you have provided, which is really not enough, the value is probably around $700 plus or minus $100 on a private sale.

Mark and Geno, thank you for the response/information. The revolver is a 629-6. It is drilled and tapped on the top strap under the rear sight assembly.

You can easily mount any optic you want on that one. Simply removed the rear sight screws from the top of the frame, take rear sight off, install aftermarket scope base (readily available).
