I took the 649 to the range to day to try out various loadings. Speer 135gr Mag, Federal 158gr HS, Win 145gr ST, Hornady 110gr +p.

What I found out is that the Mag loads, including the Speer 135gr mag SB load, have far too much bluster and recoil for my liking out of that short barrel. The Hornady 110gr +p critical defense seemed to be the Goldi Locks round. It felt just right and hit perfectly to POA.

Just FYI if you have a similar J frame.

I've been carrying the non +P version in my Airweights. Very pleasant shooting and I've found them to be extremely accurate. Just about all of the jello tests I've seen with these rounds performed well.

^^^^what he said. Good point. You carry what you are comfortable with and you can hit with, double taps, if necessary. Like to eat jello too much to shoot into it!
