Took my M&P340 to the range today and, among the standard pressure and +P I fired, I put five rounds of .357 down range. The blast took some of the finish off the cylinder so the stainless seems to show through. No big deal since this is my EDC and as such just a tool. That said is there some way of restoring the look to the cylinder?

Are you sure it took the finish off and is not just a grayish powder residue? Mine has never shed the finish. I have shot a "few" 357s through it. The gray has always come off with a good powder solvent.

^^^^what he said. I have 2 M&P 340s, only shoot magnums through them, and have never had any finish problems on the cylinders. Maybe solvent and a little "elbow steam" will do the trick.

I'm not sure about the gray since I thought it was thoroughly cleaned (I'm pretty anal about a clean weapon), but I'll try again and see what happens. UPDATE: Back to the cleaning table this AM and used lead remover cloth, very light touch, followed by Hoppes and everything came off. Thanks everyone.

Jdh: Agree, perfect for pocket carry. Very light and I especially like the big dot front sight. I can keep everything in a fist size group, slow fire, at three & five yards.

practice yanking that trigger back because in a defensive situation you will not be slow firing that trigger.

As to J frame trigger practice I agree. My training is to set out a standard paper plate at three, five & seven yards. I empty the revolver as fast as possible, combat reload and repeat slowing a bit as distance increases. The goal is to keep all ten rounds on the paper plate.
