Favorite big bore? That's like picking my favorite chip from a bag of Lays.

Well there was no definitive description of "big bore" so if the o/p truly means a BIG BORE/ BIG BOOM than I will toss in my vote for my beloved 12" X framed 460 mag :

25-7 Model of 1989, .45 LC with 5" barrel. It's my biggest Big Bore... Of course my Model 29 Mountain Gun's not too shabby either. My Grail Gun is a 4" barreled .44 Special, model to be dertermined by fate I suppose.

I have lots of guns in 45LC, 29's and 629's. But my favorite has always been the 357 Magnum. So I have many 586 and 686 that I would pick. However the S&W 29, 629 are right in there.

For me.....my Model 25-2 .45ACP, with or without moon clips. Very smooth action, good grip for me, very accurate (when I do my part).
Tons of fun....range or woods

Smith Wesson by Laketime1 | Photobucket
My collection of Smith & Wesson revolvers would still be my favorite, followed by my 1911's, then my .50 cal Desert Eagles.

Well, that depends...
there are so many to choose from:
For packing and hunting a John Linebaugh custom Ruger Bisley in 45 Colt with a 4 5/8" stainless Wilson Match barrel.
For plain fun at the range, a Model 25-5 in 45 Colt.
For target shooting (bullseye or IDPA), a Model 625 JM
And for a wide variety of self defense needs, an one of my 1911s, such as my Novak custom Combat Government 1911.

I have a 6" nickel 29-3 and I like it, but my favorite right now is the 44 hand ejector.....and the Uberti SAA in 45 Colt has plenty of fun factor.

I confess I'm surprised by how many folks think the 357 Magnum is a "big bore". In my mind, to qualify the caliber has to start with at least "4".
My current favorites are all 45 caliber. Either the 45 ACP or the 45 Colt.

I have NM Blackhawks in 44 Special, 41 Magnum, 44 Magnum, and 45 Colt and don't want to have to pick which I would give up. The one I carry though is the 3" GP100 converted to 41 Special. On the S&W side, I have a 629-8 in 5", a 629-1 in 6", and a 657 in 8 3/8". I like to shoot serious loads in the big boys, using smaller calibers mostly as warm weather carry guns.

My current go to revolver is a M69.
Over the last 10 years or so, these three have seen the most action. Freedom Arms M83 475 Linebaugh (over 15,000 rnds), FA m97 45 Colt (over 25,000 rnds) and S&W M329 (over 9,000 rnds) and my all day everyday carry gun for the better part of a decade.

I've never met a -3 thru -5 629 I didn't like. Or a -6 29.
If only a no lock S&W 460 for 500 was available, I'd be all over those!

My thoughts almost EXACTLY - gotta start with at least a "4".
A 357 is a magnum, but IMO it isn't a big bore. Basically the same bore as a 380? Nothing big about that.

Since we're in the 1980+ section, my only one that fits here is a 625-2. I'm a big fan of 45acp revolvers. My other ones are 61-99 years old.

Hands down Model 58...bought used with a tiny bit of muzzle wear and rubber grips. Was able to obtain a set of Diamond PC Magnas for it. Loaded 215 LSWC's over 5 grains of Titegtoup for approximately 800 fps. Shoots like a heavy barrel Model 10. A real keeper!

My current favorite is my most recent acquisition, a S&W 696 no dash 3" .44 special. Took me a long time to find one, and it shoots as sweet as I had imagined. My previous favorite was a 4" Mountain Gun in .45 colt, but I swapped it for a 1006 a couple of years back. I will admit, I must be an odd duck, I never was fond of a .44 magnum in a handgun, and I have owned a couple, but I love it in a levergun.
My second favorite is a .41 magnum Blackhawk (1971). So many sweet handguns represented here!

As of today either my 4" 629-1 or pretty much any 1911. Opinion subject to change depending on my next gun purchase.

Revolver & Pistol
I want to cover Both my favorite Revolver, and Pistol. My favorite Semi Auto Big Bore Pistol is the Colt .45 ACP Pistol in the Gold Cup configuration. The Colt .45 ACP Pistol, is without question, the most successful, Talked about, loved, and hated semi auto pistol of all time! The S&W Mod. 57 .41 Mag. revolver is my favorite Big Bore Revolver. The .41 mag. cartridge is a reloaders dream, as it shoots to the same point of aim better than any of the fifteen calibers that I reload. It will do the job required of it on most big game, It is a pleasure to shoot in the low power loads, and is quite manageable in the hottest of .41 Mag. loads.

I'm not going to specify an actual gun, but I will go with the .44 Magnum as my favorite big-bore handgun cartridge.. I've loaded this round since 1979, and I still haven't found anything else to be as versatile.
But everyone loves photos! Here's my recently purchased SBH, which has been my favorite Ruger and my favorite single-action since I was 12:

My favorite big bore handgun? Right now the only big bores I have are .45s and I'm partial to all of them but my favorite is probably my "CROWBAR" .45ACP M28-2.

Since you said favorite (and not most practical), I'll go with these:
A Colt 41 LC Bisley sent to Mexico City in 1905:
A pair of Colt SAA (3rd gen) in 45 Colt:

My favorite (and only, these days) Smith fatty is my 625-3.

435-grains at 1270 fps . . . that'll leave a mark!
