Default Grips numbered to a 547

Just received a 547 4" SB, shipped Sept 1983.
Question, were the grips numbered to the gun at this time?
Just curious.

I'm pretty sure they stopped that before the 547 came along.

Take the stocks off and look?

I think the practice stopped sometime around 1980.
