Default Mother's mag and aluminum with the 642-2

I have seen steel revolvers that were polished (and looking really good) with Mother's mag and aluminum and I'm curious as to what effect this compound would have on the 642-2

any help would be appreciated.

It may ruin the finish. Do a search here for threads about the coating wearing off. It is common for the 642/638 and others with the matte silver coating.

Car wax may be a good thing to put on it.

It would probably pull the clear coat off the aluminum. I would not do it.

There was a thread on this a year or so ago. As I recall, the owners were happy and the guns all looked pretty good.

The thing is, uncoated aluminum alloy will rust... in a fashion. It oxidizes, which looks like a whitish substance - aluminum oxide, an abrasive.

If you keep the gun well oiled, and wipe it down and handle it with some frequency, that seems to keep the oxidation at bay, or at least minimize it to the point where it's not even noticeable.
