Default Esmeralda J frame grips?

Is esmeralda still making grips? Her catalog is sparse for the semi-autos and she doesn't have a single J-frame grip listed.

I've never seen her stock so low.

I have checked her stock for J frame grips, off and on, for the past two years and had no luck on catching a pair.

I did find a pair in the WTS forum here and snatched them up.

Thread bump and hijack....

Did she make these stocks on the 642??? (just bought it, and the 325, last weekend). My original guess was Houges but a Google image search suggests that they aren't.
Any ideas on the type of wood???

Thanks for any help.

I thought she only did 1911s. I have 5 sets. Very nice work.

I would say yes but am no expert.

The pair I have are checkered and very nice but they look similar in design.

If you google esmeralda j frame grips and look at the images it appears so. The colors on the wood sure looks like some similar ones there as well.

I cannot recall if she signs the inside of her grips so you might pop them off and look, if you haven't already.

They are very nice looking!

I've been wondering about that myself. I have a very nice set of double diamond cocobolo (SP?) - for a 1911, that are supposed to be Esmeraldas, but no signature on the inside.

Anyone got the straight scoop?

She signs the backsides of the grips but with a paint pen which is easily wiped away with gun oils/solvents, so a lack of signature doesn't necessarily preclude her having made them. jughed440's grips DO look like her work.

I have several pairs of her Cocobolo grips all which I've bought in the last 5 or so years. My initial impression is your grips are not Esmeralda's but I can't see the finger grooves because of the darkness of your photo. All my grips are cut on the same pattern. If yours match mine and they are signed and numbered inside then they are Esmeralda 's. I don't know what is happening but I haven't seen any J frame grips for sale on her site when I've checked for about a year.

Edited to add:
Now that you have posted clearer pictures in post #11 below, we can clearly see the shape of the finger grooves match the photos of my grips. The signature and numbering are of course genuine. Congrats, those are awesome grips.

It turns out that the grips are Esmareldas. And her signature is lightly engraved, rather than signed with a paint pen.
I'm betting that they are rose wood. Regardless...it's a pleasant surprise in an already great deal.

Thanks for any help

Now that I think about it, I was confusing her with Craig Spegel with regards to the paint pen. Spegel used to use a paint pen to sign his full name before he started using a carved/stamped "CAS" marking on the back of his grips. In any case, I knew Esmeralda also signed her grips.

I was wondering if you meant Spegels. I have a set of his boot grips dated '97, and marked with a gold paint pen.
