S&W 64 3-inch value
Found a 3-inch model 64 for trade. Not sure of the dash number, the seller is apparently not knowledgeable about such things and when I asked just said it was a 38SPL. He is also willing to take my Police trade in M&P 40 in trade.
I have seen even fewer 3-inch 64's than I have seen 3-inch 65s. Completed GB ads show that they command a premium price. What is the value of these revolvers? I have attached the only picture I have so far

If I were to sell mine, I'd look for no less than $350.00

I don't know what they sell for, but I love my 2" 64-2. I wouldn't mind having a 3" at all. Congratulations!

Nice 64, a 3" 64-3 was the first of my meger 3" collection. I think it has one of the best triggers I have!
Good luck with yours

I would guess from the photo that it is likely a 64-5, or possibly a later -3, pre-internal lock and with all forged parts. You didn't mention how much you have into your M & P 40 trade in but I would guess this one to be worth in the $500 range. Good luck in your decision.

S&W 64 3-inch value
It's a 64-3. I have about $450-475 in my M&P so seems like a fair deal. Gonna meet the guy tomorrow afternoon. Will be a nice stablemate to my 3-inch 65-3.

I have purchased three 3" Model 64s in the last year.
1. Model 64 NY-1 3" for $400 (stole it)
2. Model 64-5 3" for $600 (paid too much), but it was local with a good and verified story. This was just a couple weeks ago.
3. Model 64-3 3" for $425 shipped...still waiting for delivery. (Stole it)
I think the value of a good condition 3" Model 64, without box or docs, is $525-$575, maybe $600, depending. Three inch K Frames are blowing up. Got some of these super cheap just by being in the right place at the right time.
The 64-5:
The NY-1 in the middle, between a 65 and 13:

Dollar-wise you're close with the M&P vs his 64. Bigger difference is availability. I'd make that trade in a heartbeat. You can easily get another M&P if you miss it. Another 3" 64 definitely not as easy to find

Yeah, I'm not that enamored with the M&P anyway. It was an impulse purchase a couple of months ago.

I don't think the 3" M64's, bring equal $$ to the 3" M65's - as in many people's eyes, they are "just .38's".
I've got a very nice 3" 65-3, but would make the trade in question (your SA M&P for the M64) - in a heart beat!
A while back, I had a fair collection of 3" / HB / RB K frames. Personal finances dictated that I could only keep one, so I kept the M65. Love to have another 3" M64, as they are great shooters, & if properly loaded, don't give up much SD capability (if any) - to the magnum version.

If you're selling a 3" M10 for $350, I'm here to buy it!

p8riot. If you wanted to replace the M&P later you'd probably find a used one cheaper then what you paid for it. As for the 64 it seems you want that more then the plastic shell shucker you have now so it seems like a good deal. Also as for availability they have not made a hammer mounted firing pin revolver since the late 90s and I'm not even sure they make a 3 inch 64 anymore. I just bought a 3 inch 64-6 and love it.

Picked up the M&P unfired from Bud's for $380 shipped, installed APEX trigger, and ran one box of ammo through it. May not happen anyway, seller has fallen off the map. Maybe he realized what he has.

I would trade. If I found one for $400. I couldn't get my wallet out fast enough.
