Depends on whether you want to retain the open sights. When hunting, I prefer to keep the open sights to/from my treestand or riding on my ATV. I've found open sights are much easier to acquire/align/shoot for the average person when there may not be enough time do so with a red dot. Once on stand I will attach my red dot w/ a quick disconnect.
If you mount using the available cuts, the above is an option. If you mount on the rear sight fixture, you're red dot only.
I like the reflex sights as far back as possible. So I would replace the rear sight with a mount. That will also get the sight as low (closest to the bore) as possible as opposed to roosting high up on a rail. Having the sight low minimizes the bore to sight center line difference thus minimizing POI offset at various ranges.
However I am biased as I design and manufacture mounts for that specific application.
That is a fine sight for a great revolver. Whatever mounting scheme you choose you will enjoy that rig.
I have shot wit a red dot for quite a few years, but still use open sights for most of my carry guns. Put the sight where it balances best for you, and puts the dot as close as possible to the bore of the revolver. The above gentleman's mounts are very good, or the Alchin mount is very similar. They are made to fit the Burris FastFire/Leupold/Vortex, etc red dots that weigh about the least of any dot sights.
