PC 629 Hunter & PC Pro Series 60
I looked at a PC 629 Hunter at Cabelas today & the action on it didn't feel special at all. Not bad, but not light & smooth either. Felt like any regular 629 you would pick up.
Then I held the Pro Series Model 60 & that action was down right awful. Extremely gritty & heavy. I was less than pleased with both of them.
I have held several 686's from the PC, plus some other 629's & they have all had very good action jobs which you would expect. Something about these two were way off. Which is too bad, because I really love the look & features of both of them. In fact I have wanted the Hunter for some time now & I would ditch that ****** red dot right away.

It that their "Magnum Hunter"? I have an older Lew Horton PC "Magnum Hunter" that came out before the two-tone finish and red dot. Trigger is the best on any handgun I have ever shot. SA is slightly more than hair. Accuracy is unbelievable.

Cory, I own one of the Magnum Hunters you're talking about and it's trigger is just as I would expect out of a Performance Center gun. I bet a drop of oil and some dry firing would smooth it out. I use it in single action primarily and no complaints from me.

That's what I expected. I think I just found/held 2 lemon's in this case. You don't see them that often in the store & I was seriously debating whether it was worth buying now. I'll keep my eyes out in the future for one, plus they are about $100 cheaper on GB than what Cabela's wanted for it. No rush for this one.
Every other PC gun I have looked at & been able to feel the action on has been buttery smooth & clearly better than the standard production guns.

I'll get one in the future.
I'm guessing you can tell a difference shooting yours vs a standard 629. I would think it would be a smooth shooter.

My two/tone 629 Magnum Hunter went to the range and shot a few rds.
After Almost 10000rds(9760 actually) it shot just fine and precisely where pointed.
About 40 of my Silh loads first, followed by 5 Bear Loads to help it say MAGNUM.
Also shot my 642 PC Power Port..Action is MUCH smoother on Magnum Hunter

That's interesting. My 629-4 Power Port has a really smooth action. So, that's a good point to bring up. I would expect the PC gun to be that good or better.
I'll keep an eye out for another one to try.
