Default Tri alpha serials

The s&w catalog 4th ed is a fantastic book, however I have two revolvers where I can not find definitively the year of manufacture, so I'm enlisting yalls help please. The first one is a model 13-3. 3" round butt. AYV****. I can NOT find that alpha combo in it. I'm guessing 1987-88. The next one is a model 29-5 classic with 8 3/8" BNF****. Same thing, I can not find that combo of letters, again guessing 1989-91. Any help please. Just doing records and I want the correct years of manufacture. Thanks in advance! And yes I'm 1000% positive those are the letter combos.

November 1987 - February 1988.

June - July 1992.

Those are the likely ranges. If you had your factory boxes we could nail it down more precisely.

On the 29-5 classic box. There is a product code of 101270, Spec Ord. 2244 6515. Hope this info can narrow down a more precise year of my 29. Serial No is BNF 4036

The precise ship date for the M29 is......
September 1, 1992.
Yeah. Those long barreled blued guns could often sit around a few months longer before an distributor would order one.

Did it come with Pachmayr grips?
