Decent price for a 37 no dash?
I have an opportunity to buy a NIB Model 37 no dash. It has the papers, box, etc & the seller is in the $650 - $700 range. I'd buy it as an investment because I have other J-frames I shoot.
I don't have a s/n but what year did S&W start with the dash models?

That's way too much. I purchased one a couple of years ago for $425.

In 10-20 years it might be worth the asking price.
Not now.
If it was a M 38, maybe.
I have no use for the exposed hammer.

Thanks. I've told the seller "No Thanks" on the 37.
He also has a 686 CS1 (no box, etc.) that he really likes but said he'd part with it for $800 which he thought was a fairly high price. Opinions?
This is a list of other items he has but hasn't given me any prices on so fire away. I'm going to download the S&W book in a couple of minutes - I think it'll be worth the $25.
M10-6 4" bull barrel, reblued at S&W
M17 no dash 6"
M18-3 4"
I'm picking up two guns this weekend (the '73 Hi Power & a two-tone Para 7.45 in superb condition) and told myself I wouldn't buy anything else but I'm always looking for a bargain if it can be found. I have a couple of BNIB & LNIB Paras to get rid of b/c I'll never use them. Then I'll spend that money on more trinkets.

$800 for any decent CS-1, either 3 or 4", is a very good price. Values on the others will depend on condition.

If I could get the M37 for what the original price was I'd be a happy camper. Mel Cotton's was in San Jose but their website shows they went out of business on Dec 11th - but not what year.
Anything on the box that would make it special? I'm still learning how to navigate the downloaded version of the S&W catalog. I normally prefer electronic media but in this case I think I'd have better luck with a physical book.

The SN puts it in 1983, one of the last ones made before the J frames went to the three-letter/four digit SN format. Interesting it has the handwritten end label on the blue one-piece box, but not $700 interesting .

Thanks.
I just got an email from a guy in GA who has a 3" 37 BNIB. I'd seen it for sale a few days ago but when I asked if he'd ship it he said it was already sold. He was mistaken & found it in his safe & it's in the small blue box with brown paper, etc. Would $675 still be way too high for a gun like that? I'm intrigued by the 3" barrel.
