Default Loader block

After being away for year, since 1983 I am getting back into shooting. I have a 586, 6" barrel. I am looking for a nice loader block that I can take to the range that will match safariland comp 2 speed loaders. I would like something along the lines of what speed beez offers.
Thanks

Safariland makes 6 shot k & L frame loading blocks......

And there's also 5 star?(going on memory) I had to get 44 mag blocks from them. They're kinda pricey - but the blocks come in aluminum (the only one's) all others are black plastic.

You can order them from Amazon or direct.

Lou, thanks for the reply....I went to 5 star's site, they make their loaders and blocks out of aluminum, nice looking. Do you know how well their loaders work? Do you think their loader blocks would be compatible with safariland loaders...I would think so

The 5-Star loaders are like fancy HKS's. They require insertion and then a twist of the knob (in the opposite direction from HKS - maybe to get around some patents) to release the cartridges, which then rely on gravity (and the orientation of the gun) to get the rounds into the chambers. If you are looking for speed, these are not for you. Convenience plus bling, these are what you want. Speed = Safariland Comp lll's.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I agree, I really like what I have read about the SL comp III's. I would like to find a nice loader block to use with them, the one that SL makes is bigger than I would like

Their loaders work well. And they're aluminum and shiny. I use hks speedloaders with them and mix and match with theirs on the blocks. The 5 star ones open in the opposite direction of the hks ones. It doesn't bug me.

You're right about the safari land loading blocks being wider/bigger. They hold more rounds too. In that respect, the 5 star ones are smaller, hold less rounds and even come in a "night stand" version, with a perch for a gun!

Safari land loaders:

Tried them. I have a pair of comp IIs I never use. Couldn't get that ;push it down with the rounds in place then push the button. Then put it in the cylinder and hope the loader disengaged : /

But the other loaders should work fine.
I can't speak about the comp IIIs. All my other guns are moonclipped and I only use the loading blocks on the 686, 66 and 629s....
