I've been shooting these beasties since 2003 but almost exclusively offhand.

I'm trying to get a better picture of what I can extract from the Performance Center gun accuracy wise. A Ransom Rest would be the solution, however, I don't have one, don't know someone who does and am not paying $400+ to answer this simple question.

I have a simple MTM rest and can use a beanbag to rest my hands on.

Will be light loads for fun. Shooting full house loads with your back bent toward the target and arms stretched out is not my idea of fun. Heavy loads offhand are not an issue for me.

Suggestions other than what I just defined?? Thanks, Don

Just raise the hight of the bench so you don't lean forward. Upright stance is very important. Rest only near muzzle and never let butt touches anything. Use sand bags to stabilize your hand and forearm but elbow should be free to move. If you do it right, you can test heaviest of 500 loads but never shoot too much at one session.
Others may disagree but this is what I do and I get 1" groups at 50yds with good loads.

Probably good suggestions all. Will be hard to materially raise the height of the benches at the range. I'll try to implement those suggestions, think they make sense. Thanks, Don

It's usually not possible to raise the height of the bench, but if there is no fixed seat, try a plastic cat litter size bucket for a lower seating position.

I've found with my revolvers, that my best accuracy comes from resting the gun just forward of the frame, where it meets the barrel, on the rest.....any rest. With the 500, the blast from the cylinder gap will burn/blast thru even the toughest leather covering of bags. Take along some duct tape or you'll end up with sand all over your bench.

Indeed, you hit the mark, I was planning on using a 5gal paint bucket for the butt rest. Appreciate your input.

If the paint bucket height works, stop there. if you need lower, kitty litter buckets are lower still, and snazzier looking as well. An outdoor range I use has tables about card table height. A Tidy Cat 27# bucket is perfect.
