Default Curiuos model 57 Mountain Gun

I just bought this S&W model 57-5 Mountain gun. I noticed it has the S&W stamp on both sides of the frame. Every other one of these I have ever seen pictures of the stamp is always on the left side under the thumb latch. Was this just a mistake or was it sent back for some work and receive another right side plate with stamp? It has some strange markings on the grip frame. Maybe someone can decipher those.

Had one just like that but only had the logo on the right side I believe...

I can never recall seeing any Smith with a double logo...

I've seen J-frames with double side logos, but I can recall an N-frame. Whether all the 161300 Mountain Guns were marked as such, I don't know. I call them "Doubly Blessed."

The other numbers and symbols on the grip frame are normal factory markings from that era. Nothing looks unusual to me.

A long time ago, like 40 or 50 years ago, S&W would mark guns that came back for work, little code stamps. They don't do that anymore, as the norm. Computers probably made it unnecessary.
