Talking New Governor Owner

Hi all, new to the forum and the Governor and have a couple of general questions. First it has the matte silver finish and there are a few darker speckled spots that, if it were on a different material, would look like corrosion. Not so rough that you can feel it with your finger, but if you use a finger nail you can tell it is there. Is there a way to clean this up without damaging the finish, or is it just nature of the beast?

Second, the Serial Number is CWP9509 if anyone would like to take a stab at the ship date. There is also a 766 that appears to be etched in.

I don't think it has been fired much, if at all but I am curious about how old it is.
Thanks

Maybe just a good cleaning. I use Break Free Powder Blast spray, small brushes, micro fiber towels (like for polishing cars) and gun oil.

Welcome! Congrats on your Governor! I love mine. FYI they aren't highly regarded in these parts.
Did I mention I like moon clips?
Good luck

Thanks guys, I know it is a bit of an oddball, but I have always liked them and figured I would play with it for a while and see how it grows on me.

A new Governor owner. Welcome to the forum! try a small amount of Ballistol with a soft rag. That should correct your problem.

You've purchased a great all purpose revolver. Rejoice!

And the "matte silver" (stainless) was introduced in 2014, so really not that old.
