Default 627pro rear height

Question about rear sight height. Are the 178014 627pro's a .126 or .146?
My new one came with the right sight blade higher than the left. S&W is sending me a new rear sight assembly. I thought this would be a great opportunity to try my hand at replacing the rear blade. Watched the how to videos and for the $11 investment I'd try my luck. Will post a picture as soon as I can. Thanks. Ron

Probably the hole that the screw goes through is not parallel to the top of the blade.

The rear sight on my new 627 looks exactly the same, canted the same way as well. I drives me nuts. I'm looking to replace the entire site though, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I thought maybe just a click each way on the adjustment screw might settle it back in. Nope. Called S&W and are sending a whole new one minus the screws to the frame. Haven't even shot it yet. Didn't want to ship it back, will try this route first and see. Will report back when it arrives. Ron

Awesome, I'll look for your followup. I was kicking around the thought of asking for a S&W replacement, but then started looking at complete replacements instead.

All I know is that it is irritating. The sad part is that my pistol has already been back to S&W for rework...and they missed that part.

Hadn't thought of that. You have me rethinking the replace lesson. May not even be "right" afterwards.

Most likely all the problem is all in the sight blade itself, with the base being OK. It wouldn't take much to get the threaded hole in the bottom of the blade slightly off square.

**** barrel crown, which they fixed.

I'll say this, the gun shoots fine NOW...but...

Canted barrel, towards the 11 o'clock position (returned to S&W, they said it was in spec so it is still canted)
Bad barrel crown (returned to S&W, they fixed)
Canted rear sight (Still bad)
Bad hand timing (Had my gunsmith rework everything)

Yeah...the gun was really a mess from S&W, I've really learned my lesson from this one. For pushing $1000, the problems with the gun are inexcusable...especially because its supposed to be a "pro" model which is supposed to receive more attention.

I did finally call S&W about the correct height. My 627 pro 4" is a .160. My M586 6" is a .146. And my 629 Deluxe 6" is a .126. I figured since I had him on the line id make him work. HAHA. He was happy to help. So hope this clears up a few other model heights incase you were playing along at home. Ron
