Default Crazy idea for the 686 competitor?

I just got a crazy idea. I've been looking at the very priceh 686 competitor for a while and I'm about ready to jump the gun, bite the bullet, and buy it (sorry, gun puns are too easy).

Has anybody else here ever looked this gun, specifically the interchangeable weights and thought: I wonder if I could put a laser in there?

I mean, just look at it:

Thoughts?

Default You may find something a bit more specialiaed...

A place like this sells lasers that aren't necessarily pen pointers. You might find something slimmer.

I'm not familiar with a 686 of that configuration so as far as how to fit it I couldn't say. Getting structural integrity and the laser lasting more than a few shots... you got me. Have fun, but don't do anything you can't back out of.

Maybe a guide rod laser would work.

Not a good idea, unless there was some way to keep the laser secured.

Would need reliable adjustments too

NOPE! It's not needed on my 686. Mainly a target revolver ( although a very good one).

You might have problems with the up and down adjustments.

The gun pictured is not a 686. It's a 629. Anyway, you would need a laser designed specifically to fit in that area for it to work properly. It would be simpler to mount one on the rail. It's hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like there is a place to mount and accessory under the barrel in front of the frame.
