Default Another 2.5" 686

Last month I found a "minty" 686-3 2.5" with combats, a gun I've been looking for for several years - not rare, but most missing the combats and are north of $1k. Today while making my weekly trip to Scheels for backpacking gear, I made the mistake of stopping by the used handgun case - they never have any nice Smiths.

This example is a verified Lew Horton 686 no dash with serial #ANA5897 (has M stamp). It's very clean, with the only mark being the turn line - there's no flame cutting.

Very nice. I like all things 686 and 586. Personally, I find the L frame to be the perfect size for .357 mag.

There were about 2500 no dash guns made for Lew Horton in 1984. Give them a call and they'll tell you if yours is one of them.

Very nice. Can't beat getting the combats with it either. Personally though, I would rather have the 586. Blued guns just tickle my fancy so much more.

I've found that you're often money ahead if you can find a gun with combats v. buying them separately. The 686-3 2.5" I bought last month had the option of buying the gun sans grips for $750 or with grips for $900. At $250-$350+ a set, it was a no brainer.
