Howdy, just acquired a model 38-2. It is brushed nickel, not marked +P, with Airweight on the side plate and the older Uncle Mike's rubber grips. Serial # BUF6238
I'm not familiar with this for a J-frame. What do you think? I'm guessing mfg about 1993.

I thought modern J-frames all had "J" in the serial #.

The J prefix went away in about 1983. Prefix BRF looks to be from August, 1994 so BRR is not too far away and BUF is from 1995. Hope this is helpful.
