S&W Model 64-5 From Centerfire
I received my LE trade in model 64 from Centerfire today. I am pleased with the purchase. You will notice on the before photos that someone had buggered the screws and that they had also mismatched the screws.
It was dirty and scuffed as you would expect, though not quite as bad as some of the LE 640's from CF. The inside was dirty and looked like someone had applied a liberal amount of grease.
I cleaned it up and redressed the flathead screw, I had a few extra side plate screws so I replaced two of those.
Here are the before and after pictures! Hope you like them

I bought 2 LE trades from Buds when they had them in stock a couple of months ago. I received a 64-5 and a 64-6. Both came in good shape. The 64-5 came with one of the smoothest triggers I have ever had on a Smith. I cleaned mine up and gave them both good looking Altamont grips.
Congrats on your 64. It looks great.

Damn - Great job - it looks like new! I like the fact that yours doesn't have the billboard lettering on the barrel ... unlike mine

Thanks, I think it turned out nicely. Yes those are Altamont stocks I purchased several years ago.
I used a couple of scotch brite pads and a light rub down with mothers mag to remove most of the previous handling marks.
I haven't fired it down range yet but the trigger in both double and single action is smooth when dry firing snap caps.

Damn fine job of polishing. Mine from SOG arrived at my FFL today but I'm out of town. He sent a pic though.

My 64-5 also arrived today, it was in very good shape. A little green pad, and it almost looks new. I ended up with a DAO, I guess I was too late on the Centerfire 64's DA/SA. I can live with that, but those ugly Hogue grips gotta go. Have a new set of service grips coming from S&W, hopefully the wait is not too long.

That looks great! Hope mine cleans up just as nice.Every working revolver deserves such a nice "retirement" clean-up and new look.
MY Centerfire 64 is at my FFL today..didn't pick it up. He said it has letters stamped into it.. "WHSP" and "T8"...but says it looks nice. Will pick it up tomorrow. He also said it was overall very sound with a good action. We shall see

Very cool! The 64 is one of those guns that are timeless. I remember working for Brinks after I got out of the Marine Corps (1st time) in 1995.
I carried a 64-5 DAO that Brinks had S&W make up for them. Perfect revolver! We carried 125gr Speer Gold Dot +Ps. I never felt under-armed. I shot high-expert with it during my Brinks qualification.
In 2010, I got one for my Mother in Suprise, AZ. She shoots it well. It is one of those guns that just can't be beat. With 125gr Golden Saber +Ps it is a heckuva HD/SD weapon.
Enjoy it. You have one of the best guns (and there's many...) to have come out of Springfield.
Cheers!

Picked it up at lunch, pretty dinged up but doesn't look like its been shot a lot.
Like opaul's liberal amounts of what looks like moly grease, and the back 2 screws are buggered and swapped. I swapped them back with my thumb nail at the shop waiting for the check, I think they should have been tighter.
Marked T-27 BFS21 on the butt of the Pacs, sn is BFS2180

Nice job on your 64! It should be a shooting machine! I have a -3 that I traded a Ruger P89 to get. Made me happy! I tend to like heavy barrels & fixed sights. Enjoy! Bob

Model 64
Nice choice-and looking great after some TLC ; you'll love it. I picked up this 64-6 a while back. Hope yours is as good as mine; mechanically perfect, cosmetically challenged, but great after some clean-up and Mothers Mag, and Altamont stocks. The DAO on mine is super smooth. Good luck
