As much as I like what I've seen of the Kimber K6s, if I were choosing a carry gun right now based on your choices I'd go with the 640 Pro because it's been around longer, I'm familiar with S&W J-frame Centennials, and S&W typically has very good customer service. Also, accessories, particularly grips and holsters, are widely available. The Kimber is just too new for me. After it's been out for a year or two, I'll likely revisit my opinion.

I have both the Kimber K6 and a 640. Both are rock solid. Neither has a commanding lead over the other. If I could only have one...Kimber K6. I like to have 6 shots and the gun is super smooth. On the other hand, the price is way too high. I bit the bullet and bought one because I am a "snubbie guy." It was sort of an academic exercise. My advice to most folks who are at all price sensitive would be to opt for the 640 pro before dropping $900 in the Kimber. The 640 is top notch too. Hell, I can't decide for you. They are both great. More holster / grip options for 640.

I bought a Kimber K6s and it fits in my J-frame holster. The double action trigger pull is fantastic right out of the box; the fit and finish is excellent and it holds 6. I have been carrying for a couple weeks.
Another positive: Kimber is starting to produce a bunch of after market sight options. I'll probably just keep the current sights (I painted the front sight orange), but it's nice there will be some choices.

Strictly from a carry standpoint, I would select the S&W due to the weight difference. The K6's trigger although very smooth, is much heavier than moat any S&W. The K6 does have 6 shots, so this would turn out to be a personal preference thing.

While it isn't a Pro Series, I do carry a 640-1 most of the time. I think it's an awesome size and weight for a carry gun. Fits in cargo shorts pocket with an Altamont boot grip.
That being said, I've not had the opportunity to try out a K6. I might find that I like it also. The gun has alot going for it, and I wouldn't be opposed to buying one if the price was right. I would probably try to find a used one for less than retail. There are so many S&W revolvers that I want that cost much less.

Both guns are listed as 23 ounces and the factory trigger in the K6s is on average two pounds less than the factory S&W J-frame. I have owned several and still own 3 J-frames and the K6s double-action trigger is better in my judgment in weight, smoothness, and stage-ability.
I carry my K6s in a holster designed for a J-frame, so I size is almost identical (and you get the 6th shot).

I have a 640 pro and love it. It is my everyday carry. That being said, I really like the K6, but will wait until they are out long enough to see how they perform long term.

I shot 2 new K6's at a Kimber demo night, about 3 weeks ago and was not impressed. I thought the trigger pull was decent but it was fairly stiff. I shot around 50 rounds through both guns and just couldn't see what all the hipe was about. I also shot about 12 other Kimbers that night and Kimber has a good gun, I just can't justify the addition price they get.

From some of the photos I've seen of the Kimber K6 it looks like the frame could be investment cast. Anyone know? Never hear anyone say if it has MIM parts either.
