Default Looking for a date

I have a M657 no dash, S/N AVB99xxx. 4 inch, brushed stainless. The trigger(smooth) and hammer appear to be sintered metal. Adjustable rear sight, plain black front sight. Anything you can tell me about it is appreciated.

Interesting, the 657 was manufactured from 1986 - 2005, but the 4 inch barrel version was discontinued in 1988. That and the year I already quoted are from the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson, 4th edition.
