Default R8 gains weight

Wanted to put a red dot on my 327 to relieve the many rounds and abuse of my 627 "Mule" with the "el cheapo" red dot it has so marvelously had....

So I added a Vortex SparcII to my R8 I hardly use.

And went to the range!

Sighted in with 38 shorts

Lit em up with mags. Winchester 231powder.

I thought a little too wild for the magnums- in comparison to the heavier 627 PC. Perfect for shorts tho.

What a wonderful weekend I'm having!

Nice pics! If you don't mind me asking, what front sight are you using? May add it to my R8 as well.

It's a hiviz .250. Going by memory. It fits a 627 and a 629. DX interchangeable. If I find the part# I'll update.

Should be a Hi-Viz S&W Classic Sight, SW3001-R, .250" tall. That's what I used on my TRR8 to replace the factory gold bead sight too.

Nice range day pics, especially the flame throwers! Really nice group too. That makes for a great weekend for sure.
What distance were you shooting?

Thanks! I was sighting it @ 15 yards standing at a 25 yard range. I had never shot that gun with that red dot and that was the first target I put up. I really like the options on that optic. The push button dimmer and 12 hour auto shut off were a bonus. I didn't even bother to turn it off after I left....

Noticed you said "shooting" , 21 yards. At a 25 yard range. But the target shown was at 15 yards. The easiest I could make an assumption for adjustments. Then I adjusted 3 times but it was quite close. I unloaded 3 cylinders in that target.

I don't want to imply any sort of insult of any kind. So please don't infer any. While I find your R8 to be quite attractive, I'm trying to find a purpose for it. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy one, but they are spendy. I just don't know of a place where I'd put it in my collection. Any thoughts?

Yeah, is my go to 8 shot 357 N frame. Have two others. Been thinking about putting a red dot on mine. And is easy to do with the TRR8. 5 inch barrel, Performance Center tuned. Fabulous balance. I push 125 grains with Long shot and WW 296 up to 140 grain and 180. Gonna have that revolver up on the scaffold with me when I get buried in the sky wrapped in a buffalo robe along with my Marlin 357 carbine.

My POU is that it replaces my 627 if it should go down for warranty..it hasn't tho. I think I just over worry about it sometimes.

If you are shooting a 5" barrel X 8- then , I would say a TRR8 or an R8 would be the best thing yet. Lotsa options.

On top of that , a 929 8 X. 25 yards is absolutely nothing to that gun .

I shoot quite a bit. The 8 cylinders let me finish quick.
