Found a 629 no lock 3 inch with box maybe a dash 5 or 6 for 639 should I get it had wood finger grips not org to the gun ???? also 36 no dash with box box for 349 it was mint I took it home .

I looked today and the 629 dash 5 with the 3 inch was still there 670 was the price and it said Mountain back packer on the barrel . I took a Smith Governor home with me . like new withe box 600 holds 6 rd and is 45 acp 45 colt and 410 . it will work good when riding atv or mowing .

FWIW at $670 that backpacker would come home with me too. Especially if they could be persuaded to come down a little on it and it was in good shape.

Its like new . I almost took it but I went home with a SA Governor 45,410 this will make a good ATV gun and I mow about 3 acres of grass it will be on me .I will get the 629 Mon .

FYI Be careful in the J frame guns as the dash numbering system does not follow the same protocol as the K & N frames! A 36-1 is a 3" heavy barrel gun only! The -1 on other J frames indicate it was built on the J frame and not the I frame!

I would have taken the 629-5 Backpacker home before the Governor.

The 45,45 Colt and 410 bore sounds good but IMO it's no where's near as desirable as a 3" 629 loaded with 44spl or 44 Magnum.

44s are a hot item right now and sell quickly when offered in the forum classifieds Guns For Sale or Trade.

Ditto on all of that. Never had much interest in the Guv'na. I just buy shotshells for my 44's - though I've been getting interested in the idea of loading up some of my own...

Yep, won't be parting with my 3" 629-1 LH anytime soon.
