Default Looking for Info on Model 19 Commemorative

I just acquired this Model 19-5 Commemorative. S.L.E.D. is South Carolina's State Law Enforcement Division. Appears to be only fired at factory. Every other cylinder is slightly discolored and a slight hint of copper in bore. There is a turn line, so obviously it has been cocked some. Grips have August 1986 stamped inside. This one is S.L.E.D. 45. I've seen one other a while back and I believe it was 72. Curious if anyone might have any idea how many were made and what the value might be. I've seen all sorts of values on these commemorative guns depending on state or department. I did find where one was listed on Armslist in 2015 with an asking price of $2000 but have no idea if it sold. I am guessing this is way out of line.

It is listed in the standard reference, 130 produced in 1987.

Having recent sales prices would be best for a value, but in general most commemorative S & W revolvers fall into the low supply and low demand category. It would probably go for 10-20% more than an unfired/NIB gun of the same type. Only a few of these have appreciated in value over time, the Texas Ranger model 19 being one. Hope this is helpful.

I have a bid in on one in an auction ending tonight. No mention of case or paperwork, July 85 stamped in the grips, fired but in great shape. I'm looking for a shooter, and the 19's I've found are skyrocketing in price. I have no qualms about shooting a commemorative to that old crook that ran SLED for half a decade if the price is right!
