Dang I love the 3" S&W
Saw it and just had to have it. Supposedly #26 of 250, I think.

I found one of those a few months back. Those magnas aren't very helpful for anything past a warm Special load, but they sure look nice I put mine in the box.
Culina's wide Cokes to the rescue!

I really like the tapered barrel. I wish Lew Horton would have spec'd that for his first run of 3" 629-1s, setting the trend for S&W to following.

Yup, they're sure nuff hard to resist. I saw the model 24 and had to have it. Funny though, it has a 44 mag cylinder.

That's exactly what I was looking to do before I found a 29-10 with a tapered barrel

The 3 inch sure is popular, good looking, and handy to carry.
I never really thought about collecting them, they just seem to happen thru the years starting in 1985-6 with a 3" 624.
Just did think about it and realized I have five 3" 44's, all of them in 44 special.
Some are used as carry pieces.
I'll also carry a 4" if the conditions are right.
Right about the time I got the 3" LH 624 I also got a 3" LH 29-?.
There was something about it I didn't like at the time and I sold it unfired.
Kinda wish I had that one back.
A snubby model 69 might help fill that hole in my heart with an almost 3" magnum.

That is precisely what happened to me, Nemo. I bought one here and there over the years never intended to collect them. A few months ago I had the safe open and realized I'm 3" .44 accumulator . I also have five. A couple 29-10's, a couple 629-1's, and a 329NG.

Just wanted to give a couple of positive comments about Customer Service. First to Smith & Wesson for providing the upper side plate screw that I realized was missing after I got home. I called them the next day and had a new one within 5 business days at no charge. My eyes are getting older, don't know how I missed it. Secondly, I called Lew Horton Distributors and talked to Earl Minot who verified it was #26 of 250 and would send me a letter to verify. Now that's what I call very impressive Customer Service to both. Thanks for all the likes and compliments.
Mark

I received my letter from Mr. Minot with Lew Horton Distributing yesterday. A nice addition to the package.

I've posted this pic before. My 19-7 k -comp 3 inch 357 ported with night sights. Dim by now. Fired 12 times and all I can do not to add to that. On the fence for three years use it or pass it on.

I still kick myself for not picking up one of the 3" CS-1's when they were cheap back in the 90's.

Congratulations on that purchase! Glad I saw this post......I had the privilege to be hired by, and work for, Earl Minot at Lew Hortons Back in 1994. He was a very wise and helpful guy back then. Glad to see he's still in there doing good things!
